Hey guys, I'm super happy, I got my very first DD! So I want to send a special thanks to my friend Steph
[link] for the suggestion.
I actually cried. It that a little pathetic or what? Hah! Anyway, on to other things...
I have a confession to make. I, Fiona Meng, am a style slut.
It's time to grit my teeth and take a good hard look in the mirror. I've found it to be difficult to be in a monogamous relationship with a particular style. It goes against my nature as a creative person. I always want to explore something new, and push myself in a different direction. As a creative person, to limit oneself can be very difficult.
But it's important to be able have a style that's somewhat consistent. If someone wants to hire you for a job, they want to be able to predict what they're going to get.
As artists our name is our brand, and when we sell our work we're selling a particular brand to a client. I know a lot of artists who have "pen names" for different styles they like to work in, but it always stays consistent.
Styles can change, but having a consistent product people can expect is important. Someone who has a strong and distinct style will be more memorable. It takes a long time to develop, but style is super important.
Any thoughts?
